Cal Thomas does it. George Will too. Sometimes, even Dick Armey has been the educated flea that flees his roots, along with a growing gaggle of weak-kneed conservatives, giving coddling reassurance to our cultural combat opponents. Everyone on the left can sense rising choruses [chori?] of “Kumbaya” from the right. The stampede is on to give the left a chance to declare a strategically-advantageous ‘hudna’ in this jihad they’ve invoked since January, 1929’s deposit of one-million-dollars [Austin Powers, we hear you] to trash the most popular president-elect in several generations.

This Kumbaya Chori includes such long-standing/now-sitting luminaries as Richard Viguerie, Frank Luntz, Andrew Breitbart, Joe Scarborough, Tucker Carlson, David Brooks, David Gergen, Bill O’Reilly and sometimes even Newt Himself. They all have ‘gone highschool’: they desperately want to sit at the cool kids’ table in the cafeteria. And those Cool Kids are the lefties in Washington, D.C., New York and L.A. itself. Boston Legal Writers Attack Pentagon Policy

ABC delivers liberal propaganda in the guise of entertainment.
by Colleen Raezler 10/19/07

When does entertainment stop being entertainment and cross the line into propaganda?

On ABC it’s Tuesday nights at 10:00, when Boston Legal airs.

ABC used its October 16 Boston Legal episode, “Do Tell,” to promote the homosexual agenda, with a story about a homosexual general suing the United States Army for discharging him on the basis of his sexual orientation.

To deliver the politically correct message, the Boston Legal writers spoke through their characters as if they were ventriloquist’s dummies.  “Tolerant” characters had ample opportunity to expound on the discrimination gays face, as lawyer Alan Shore does for his “homophobic” colleague Denny Crane... Coddling Killers
by Ralph Peters [author, novelist] 10/17/07

The fighting in Pakistan last week has been more intense than any current operations across the border in Afghanistan. President Musharraf is paying, with interest, for trying to cut a deal with Islamist fanatics.

The combat operations in North Waziristan involve thousands of ground troops, artillery barrages and attack aircraft. This isn't internal policing. It's war. [more]

Unborn Activists
by Julia Gorin
[pundit/comedian] 10/17/07

After a test showed that one of her twins had Down Syndrome, a 38-year-old woman in Italy had the handicapped fetus aborted this summer -- only to find out that the hospital killed the healthy twin. So she came back for a second abortion and filed a complaint against the medical staff. It turns out that the twins had switched places between the last scan and the actual abortion.

This is just one of many cases showing that, as often as not, aborted fetuses get the last laugh. In incidents like this one, you can almost hear them. Yes, when they take a break from crying, aborted fetuses are laughing — at us. Switching places in the womb just in time for the abortion is one of many gags these practical jokesters like to play on us. [more]

Playing Politics With Genocide
by Ralph Peters [author, novelist] 10/17/07

In the midst of the First World War, the Young Turks who had taken over the Ottoman Empire committed genocide against their Armenian subjects. At least a million Armenians were murdered - with nauseating cruelty - or died of abuse, heat, hunger and thirst.

The only reason any survived was that the Turks lacked the administrative skills and technologies to kill everyone. Not every captive fit into the burning churches. On the death marches across Anatolia into the Syrian desert, guards ran out of bullets. And even sadists grew weary of bayoneting children and clubbing old men to death. [more]

Nobel Lunacy
by Bruce Thornton [author] 10/16/07

Al Gore embodies a type that usually turns up in high school or university faculties, what we can call the evangelical liberal. These folks believe they have received the revealed truth about everything, and so are entitled to hector and harass the rest of us with blustering sermons whose real purpose is to demonstrate their righteousness and superiority. What is worse, their revealed truth does not come from God or a traditional faith, but supposedly from a rational examination of principle and empirical evidence. Thus they combine the worst traits of religious fanaticism and crackpot scientism. [more]

Today @ ExileStreet.com - Gore's Nobel Prize Could Sideline Hillary

Gore's Nobel Prize Could Sideline Hillary
by
Roger Aronoff
[writer/director] 10/16/07

It is being widely reported that Al Gore's winning of the Nobel Peace Prize could propel him into the presidential race, but the award is tainted and the former vice president received it shortly after a British Court issued a ruling alleging numerous errors in his film on global warming. In short, Gore's prize is a joke, something that should be fodder for late-night comedians.

But there can be no minimizing the propaganda value that such an award can garner. If Hillary falters in her race for the Democratic presidential nomination, it could be enough for Gore to make a move, and try to seize the White House for himself. That will depend, in part, on the fickle finger of the Big Media. [more]

Today @ ExileStreet.com Prelutsky - Liberals: A Puzzlement!

Liberals: A Puzzlement!
by Burt Prelutsky
[scriptwriter] 10/15/07

I’ll come right out and admit that I understand Islamic terrorists far better than I do American liberals. After all, once you realize that young Muslims are taught by their religious leaders that our nation is militarily powerful and technologically advanced because we cut a deal with Satan, you can see where they’d be upset with us. But what is the deal with liberals? How to explain their mushy heads? Was it something weird in their baby formula? Were they potty-trained when they were too young or, more likely, too old? Or is it simply something in their DNA? Are their chromosomes slightly out of whack, the way it is with homosexuals and the transgender crowd?

I’m serious. Why else would Americans so resent the United States having more influence in the world than, say, Luxembourg or Lichtenstein? Why do they seem to have no rooting interest in capitalism prevailing over all the other isms? Do they think that the reason they live so much better than the typical Russian or Turk is because they, themselves, are intellectually superior? Fat chance! [more]

Today @ ExileStreet.com -- Prelutsky: Peace Is Sometimes A Four-Lettter Word

Peace Is Sometimes A Four-Lettter Word
by Burt Prelutsky
[scriptwriter] 10/8/07

Back in the 1950s, a southern journalist named Harry Golden became famous by turning out a series of best-selling books, the first of which he called “Only in America.”  The title was a reference to a popular expression that reflected the feeling of most of his countrymen that America was special, a unique place that offered millions of people unlimited freedom to express themselves and to achieve dreams that were unimaginable anywhere else on earth.

In the half century since Mr. Golden wrote his book, things have undergone a sea change in this country.  Partly the change has come about because of Viet Nam and Watergate.  But mainly because the Baby Boomers, surely the most selfish and infantile generation in our history, have achieved positions of power and influence; partly because the Fourth Estate came to be infested with Fifth Columnists, reporters and commentators who believe they are fulfilling their destinies only when they are tearing down the country, its traditional values and symbols; partly because Communism, which should have been left to die and be buried in the Soviet Union, took root and flourished on America’s college campuses; and partly because Jimmy Carter, a sanctimonious phony who never met a despot he didn’t adore, and Bill Clinton, an amoral opportunist who somehow went from being a punk in England bad-mouthing America during a time of war, to being a military-hating commander-in-chief, were elected to the highest office in the land. Today @ ExileStreet.com: Gorin -- Blaming Serbs and Guns

Blaming Serbs and Guns
by Julia Gorin
[pundit/comedian] 10/2/07

At a time when disproportionate numbers of Muslim immigrants are raping their host societies’ women and girls, “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” decides it would be timely to re-broadcast an episode in which a Serb — having raped Muslim women in Bosnia — is now raping American women. This is the sort of thing I’ve described in the past as Hollywood’s/TV Land’s wishful thinking, which they try to turn into reality, at least on-screen: Unable to deal with reality as it is, they create an alternate reality in the movies and on TV. This is the whole point of retreating into the film business, where you can sculpt the world as you think it should be. As I wrote in 2003:

Hollywood, D.C. It’s a place where the Clinton presidency lives on in the personage of Martin Sheen, and where JFK is always a hero. It’s where problems really can be fixed by throwing money at them, and where the rest of the world wants peace too. It’s where death row inmates have been framed and pedophiles are victims under Megan’s Law. It’s where raising taxes improves an economy and where unlimited social programs still leave the budget balanced. In short, it’s where liberal policies work, because what sounds good on paper and works in theory also works in the movies. [more]

Today @ ExileStreet.com -- Prelutsky: A Few Thoughts About Compassion

A Few Thoughts About Compassion
by Burt Prelutsky
[scriptwriter] 10/1/07

Most people would include compassion on the short list of human virtues.  At one point, I would have been one of those people.  But, no longer is that the case.  Like so many other things, it has taken on a far different meaning in recent times.

In the past, compassion was extended to the elderly, the abused, the innocent and the infirm.  But during the last few decades, it has become an entitlement demanded by members of various voting blocs.  In short order, it has been transformed into political currency doled out by political hacks trolling for votes. CBS Can and Should Beat Dan Rather
by
Roger Aronoff
[writer/director] 9/25/07

Former CBS News anchor and reporter Dan Rather sent shockwaves through CBS and the mainstream media with his dramatic lawsuit against his former employer. On CNN's Larry King Live last night, Rather seemed shaken and very emotional, fighting back tears on several occasions. His legal claims are even shakier.

The suit involves how Rather was treated before, during and after the scandal that badly damaged the network back in 2004 and 2005 when it made explosive but false charges, based on phony documents, against President Bush just two months before the presidential election. The story backfired on the network, reconfirming to millions of people the existence of a liberal media bias. [more

At ExileStreet Today:
Why I’m A Conservative

by Burt Prelutsky
[scriptwriter] 9/24/07

Every so often I hear from a self-anointed right-wing commissar that I’m not really a conservative simply because he’s disagreed with something I wrote.  The most annoying aspect of being called on the carpet is that it serves to remind me that some of those on the right can be every bit as dogmatic and self-righteous as the pinheads on the left.

So, I will now list my core beliefs and you can all decide for yourselves whether when I claim to be a conservative, I’m guilty of misrepresentation. [more]
